Water Conservation Programs and Rebates

Overview

Water is one of our most valuable resources, especially in Texas, where record-high temperatures and drought conditions are a yearly reality. To adapt, communities must embrace water conservation practices, such as planting native species and watering responsibly, to create resilient lawns and sustainable lifestyles.

In Georgetown, a large share of treated water is used outdoors, primarily for lawn irrigation, leaving only about a quarter for daily household needs. The City of Georgetown offers programs and rebates that encourage smart water use, helping residents save money while maintaining healthier, more sustainable landscapes.

Rebates and Programs

Residential Georgetown water customers can qualify for a maximum combined total of $5,000 in rebates, while commercial customers can receive up to $8,000 per year.

Visit the Water Conservation Rebates and Programs page for full details. Rebates are processed through our partner, EGIA, on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available. Customers may also conveniently submit Rebate Applications through the Rebate Portal.

Processing can take up to a month, and the rebate will arrive in the form of a check through the mail after final approval. Some rebates require pre-approval before work can be started, or materials can be purchased. We recommend customers carefully review requirements and wait for rebate approval before performing any work.

Program Details

  • Customers are limited to one rebate of each type per fiscal year.

  • We are currently accepting applications for the 2026 fiscal year (services performed on or after Oct. 1, 2025) through Sept. 15, 2026.

  • Any application that results in $600 or more in total rebates within a calendar year requires submission of a W-9 tax document.

  • Our rebate partner, EGIA, will provide a link to the W-9 form via email to be completed, signed, and returned.

  • No rebates will be paid until W-9 documents have been received and processed.

  • Any applicant receiving $600 or more in rebates will also receive a 1099 for that tax year.
