How do I get a building or inspection permit?
Talk to us about your project
We encourage you to contact us before you submit your building permit application if you are unsure of the permitting requirements.
You may be referred to staff members to determine if your project will require any Planning or Engineering approvals before you can apply for a building permit.
Residential Building Permits
A building permit is required to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert, or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system. If the project address is located within the ETJ/County and the City of Georgetown is the water, wastewater, and/or electric provider, then building permits will apply.
