Unified Development Code: Guiding Georgetown’s Growth and Development

Overview

The Unified Development Code (UDC), adopted by the City Council on March 25, 2003, serves as the primary guide to development within the City of Georgetown.

The UDC integrates procedures, standards, and regulations for:

  • Zoning

  • Subdivision applications

  • Permits

  • Trees and fences

  • Planning and permitting processes

The goal of the UDC is to:

  • Promote public health, safety, and general welfare

  • Encourage orderly and sustainable development

The UDC applies to all buildings and developments within city limits.

Code Enforcement & UDC

Code Enforcement plays a key role in UDC compliance. If a violation is reported, they will route the concern to the appropriate department responsible for resolution.
