Feral hog issues in Georgetown

Category: Uncategorized

Feral Hogs

The Georgetown Police Department (GPD) works with private property owners to ensure that private traps are placed strategically to disrupt hogs' movements into residential neighborhoods.

GPD also works with regional partners such as Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) to ensure that Georgetown is included on state and regional strategies to manage hog populations.

GPD will share reports of hog sightings in Georgetown to state agencies for their awareness.

If hogs are depredating or causing damage in your neighborhood, please report to the City of Georgetown Police Department non-emergency line at 512-930-3510.

What do I do if I have trapped a feral hog?

If you decide to catch the hogs yourself via snare or trap, you have to transport the trapped hogs to an approved holding facility or authorized hunting preserve.

Hog carcasses must be disposed of at a recognized slaughter facility.

See the links under “Resources” below for potential locations.

*Note - Unfortunately, the City of Georgetown collection station will not accept hog carcasses. Georgetown Public Works Operations can only pick up hog carcasses if they are in the public right of way.
