Overview:
Georgetown Public Library offers books, media, kits, and more for checkout — with flexible loan periods, easy renewals, and no overdue fines. Whether you’re borrowing a novel, a ukulele, or a cake pan, we make it easy to enjoy your library.
Loan Periods

Most items check out for 14 or 21 days.

New adult books: 14 days (yellow tape) or 21 days (red tape).

Books for all ages, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and kits: 21 days.

Circulating magazines (2nd floor only): 21 days.
Specialty Items

Archivist in a Backpack kits: 10 days.

Book Club in a Bag kits: 6 weeks (reserve in advance).

Ukuleles: 6 weeks.

Reference materials and newspapers: in-library use only.
Renewals

Most 14- and 21-day items renew automatically once.

Items on hold for another user cannot be renewed.

You may request a renewal by phone, text, or in person.
Digital Borrowing

Libby (OverDrive): 14 days.

Hoopla: 21 days.

Kanopy: 48–72 hours per item. Kanopy Kids: 30 days.

SimplyE / E-Read Texas: Loan periods vary by title.
Returning Materials

Return items indoors at the Circulation Desk book drop.

Use the outdoor drive-through book drop in the 9th Street parking lot.
Fines & Lost Items

No overdue fines are charged.

Items overdue 60+ days are marked as lost and may require payment.
