Overview

Driver’s licenses in Texas are issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The Williamson County Clerk’s Office does not process driver’s license applications. 

How to Apply for a Driver’s License

To obtain a Texas driver’s license, you must visit a Texas Department of Public Safety Driver License Office. 

Steps to apply:

• Locate your nearest DPS Driver License Office

• Schedule an appointment (recommended)

• Bring the required identification documents

• Provide proof of residency and lawful presence

• Pass the vision, knowledge, and driving tests (if applicable)

• Pay the required license fee
