Requesting a New Water or Electric Meter

Overview

Residents and businesses can request a new electric or water meter through the MGO Connect Customer Portal. Because these services connect directly to the City’s utility systems, inspections and permits are required before installation can be completed.

If you notice your existing water meter sinking or settling into the ground, please contact Customer Service at 512-930-3640 for assistance.

How to Request a New Meter

New electric or water meter installations must be initiated through the MGO Connect Customer Portal. Once your request is submitted, City staff will review it to ensure all requirements are met and will coordinate any necessary inspections.

New Water Meter Requirements for Development

For Proposed Developments or Commercial Properties

A Utility Evaluation is required for any new development or commercial project requesting a water meter. This evaluation helps the city determine whether the existing utility system can support the proposed project and ensures alignment with the City’s current Utility Master Plan.
