Confirm Limb Contact with Power Line Before Reporting

Overview:
Before reporting a tree limb issue, please verify that the limb is actually touching the power line. Refer to the diagram below for a typical pole setup.  Power lines are typically located at the very top of the utility pole for safety.   Confirming limb contact helps direct your concern to the correct provider.

The City of Georgetown has multiple electric providers in the area.

Confirm you are a City of Georgetown electric customer by checking this map.

1. Click on the “Layer List” in the top right-hand corner of the page.
2. Click on the “Utility Layers” drop-down arrow
3. Select “Electric Service Providers” and find the address in question

• Primary Wires: At the very top, three high-voltage lines carry up to 34,500 volts.
• Transformer: A grey, cylindrical unit mounted on the pole converts high-voltage electricity into lower, usable voltage.
• Secondary Wires & Electric Service: These lines carry up to 240 volts from the transformer to provide power directly to a house.
