Are you needing a permit for your POD-type storage in the Right of Way?

If you are looking to temporarily have a storage container, such as a “PODS” or “MODS”, curbside on a local street, you will need a Right-of-Way Permit.  The process is easy, and it is done solely online via a permitting website.  The permit may be approved for a maximum of SEVEN DAYS, and will cost a total of $45.

Instructions for Submitting Permit

• Go to My Government Online

• Create an account.

• Go to “Permits & Licensing” at the top left of the screen

• Select “Apply Online”

• (State = Texas) (Jurisdiction = Georgetown) (Project Type = Right of Way), click “Next”

• Click “Get Started on a New Application”

• Choose “Right of Way Permit Application” as the application type, click “Next”

• Give your Address, click “Next”

• Fill out the Applicant’s Contact information (first and last name, email, and at least one phone number)

• Skip Owner’s Contact, Contractor’s Contact, Superintendent’s Contact, and Sub-Contractor’s Contact by clicking “Next” through those options

• Choose the date that you plan on having the POD delivered for the “Start Date of Work” date

• For the “End Date of Work” date, choose any date within a 7-day period of the start date

• Complete the “application questionnaire” (for “distance and direction” and “length of crossing”, just write “see plans”), select  “storage” for Type of Construction, “General Description” would just be a quick explanation that you’re needing to store a POD and the reason, complete the rest of that section by initialing and acknowledging, then click “Next”

• In the “Files Upload” section, it will require FOUR documents, or it will not complete the submission. You can upload photos of the location or use a screenshot of the location from a map like “Google Maps” that shows where you intend on storing the container.

Even if you use only ONE document for all four required uploads, just make sure that you upload that document FOUR times (using each attachment upload option), as this prevents the website from having an error since it is looking for four requirements.

• Review and submit

• You will receive an application number. Please email the application number to rowpermits@georgetown.org, so that our Right-of-Way permitting team may get your permit reviewed and approved with the utmost priority.

Thank you.  I hope this helps.  Feel free to reach out to rowpermits@georgetown.org if you stumble upon any issues, need assistance, or have a question.
