How do I apply for water and wastewater tap?
Utility Evaluation / Water Meter Tap and/or Wastewater Tap
Overview
This information explains how to request a new water meter and/or wastewater connection through Georgetown Utilities. It applies to one single-family home, agricultural use only, or an irrigation meter only. The goal is to help property owners and builders understand the process, requirements, and possible costs.
New Water Meter and/or Wastewater Information
For One (1) Single-Family Unit, Agricultural Use Only, or Irrigation Meter Only
Georgetown Utilities offers a service called a Capacity Check. This service helps builders and homeowners find out if water and/or wastewater service can be provided to a property and if there are any limits or issues with the system. The Capacity Check also helps explain the steps and possible costs to get utility service.
The Capacity Check may be used for:
-
One (1) residential single-family home
-
One (1) duplex
-
Agricultural use only
-
Irrigation meter only
How to Request a New Connection
For one (1) new water meter or wastewater connection serving one (1) residential single-family dwelling, agricultural use only, or irrigation meter only, you must:
- Complete the Capacity Check Form
- Submit the form online to Systems Engineering at www.mgoconnect.org
This process is not for commercial projects. Commercial projects and new subdivision developments must use the Utility Evaluation process instead.
Important Location Notes
-
Properties located inside the City Limits or the ETJ may have additional development requirements
-
If the property is part of a recorded plat (an official map that shows how land is divided into lots, streets, and utility areas), review the plat notes to find out who provides utilities
-
Copies of recorded plats can be found online at the Williamson County Clerk's Office.
Proposed Development and/or Commercial Property
A Utility Evaluation is required for commercial properties or proposed developments. This evaluation allows the City to review the project and determine whether existing utility systems can support the development and whether it meets the City’s Utility Master Plan.
Utility Evaluations must be submitted online at www.mgoconnect.org through the Systems Engineering portal.
