A Community Guide to the UDC Update
Overview
The City is updating the Unified Development Code (UDC) for the first time since 2003. The goal is to make sure the rules match the City’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan, follow current laws, and reflect community needs.
The updated UDC is easier to read, easier to use, and brings older rules up to date.
What the UDC Update Covers
The UDC update improves rules related to:
- Zoning
- Subdivisions
- Roads and transportation
- Utilities
- Environmental protection
- Landscaping
- Development and building processes
What the UDC Update Does Not Do
The UDC update:
- Does not change zoning automatically
- Does not take private property
- Does not change private deed restrictions or covenants
Public Input and Timeline
Community feedback has been part of the update process since 2022. Final approvals are planned through mid-2026. The new UDC will take effect on August 1, 2026.
