How do I view my water consumption?
WATER CONSUMPTION ALERTS
This is a step-by-step guide that will help you set water usage alerts in our customer portal.
How does it work?
This feature is quick and easy to configure and allows you to set your own usage thresholds. If your water use goes over that threshold, you’ll automatically receive an email alert. These alerts can help you spot unusual usage early, avoid surprises on your bill, and better manage your water consumption over time.
STEPS:
- Log into your online CSS portal account.
- Scroll down the main screen until you see the Quick Links box.
- In the Quick Links box, you will click on see Consult Consumption Data.
- The next screen will show your water usage data.
- On the far right you will see the Receive notification by email box.
- If you wish to participate, click the slider button.
- Now you will enter 3 threshold amounts.
What amounts should I choose?
1st recommendation is to use your own water history to choose your three alert levels:
- Set your first alert just above your highest winter bill to track indoor use.
- Set your second alert near your typical summer bill to manage irrigation.
- Set your third alert slightly above your highest summer bill as a high-use or possible leak warning.
2nd recommendation is to set your water use alerts to line up with our tiered rates, so you’ll know when you move into a higher-priced tier:
- Set your first alert near the top of Tier 2 usage (15 kgals).
- Set your second alert at the point where Tier 3 rates begin (25 kgals).
- Set your third alert at the point where Tier 4 (or the highest tier) rates begin (26-50+ kgals).
This way, you’ll get an email when your usage moves into a more expensive tier, giving you a chance to adjust before your bill increases.
These are only recommendations and not the only possible settings. You should choose what works best for you and your location. A residential home might have different water needs than someone who lives on a more rural property and owns livestock. The good news is that you can change the threshold amounts whenever you like to find what works best for you.
