Report an Illegally Parked Vehicle

Overview
Illegally parked vehicles can block access, create safety issues, and violate city ordinances. The Georgetown Police Department and Code Compliance Division address these concerns to help keep neighborhoods safe and accessible.

How to Report
If you observe a vehicle parked illegally, contact the Georgetown Police Department Non-Emergency Line at 512-930-3510 or submit a report online through the City’s Code Compliance portal.

Vehicles Illegally Parked on the Street
Reference: Sec. 10.16.050

City ordinance prohibits parking certain vehicles such as commercial vehicles, truck tractors, trailers, semi-trailers, campers, motor homes, boats, and buses on public streets or rights-of-way in residential districts or within 300 feet of a residence in those areas.

Parking on Unapproved Surfaces
Reference: Sec. 10.16.070

Parking vehicles on grass, dirt, or other unapproved surfaces in front or side yards is not allowed.

    Please submit a Code Compliance issue online.

    Junked Vehicles

    Reference: Sec. 8.28.020 & Sec. 8.28.10 (Definition Summary)

    A vehicle may be considered a junked vehicle and a violation of city ordinance if it meets any of the following conditions:

    A junked vehicle is any self-propelled vehicle that is wrecked, dismantled, discarded, or inoperable for more than:

    • 72 hours on public property
    • 30 days on private property.

    This includes motor vehicles, aircraft, and watercraft, and applies when any of the following are true:

    • The motor vehicle has no license plate or expired/missing registration
    • The aircraft lacks a valid FAA registration number
    • The watercraft has no valid certificate of number and is not exempt under Section 31.055 of the Parks and Wildlife Code
