What should I do if there is a dead animal, large object, or debris on the road?

Report Dead Animals, Debris, or Large Objects on the Road

Overview
If you notice a dead animal, large object, or debris on the roadway, please report it as soon as possible. Prompt reporting helps ensure Georgetown’s streets remain safe and free of hazards.

How to Report
The responsible agency for removal depends on where the object is located:

  • City of Georgetown Streets
For debris or dead animals on city-maintained roads, report the issue to the City of Georgetown.

  • State-Maintained Roads (TxDOT)
For items on SH 195, SH 29, FM 971, or Leander Road, contact the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

  • Williamson County Roads
If the issue is on a county-maintained road, report it to Williamson County for removal.

  • Private Property
If the debris or animal is on private property, it is the property owner’s responsibility to have it removed.
