Recycling Christmas lights and/or Christmas tree

Overview

Recycle your holiday string lights and Christmas trees responsibly this season. Convenient drop-off and curbside options are available for Georgetown residents.

From late November through late January, string lights can be recycled at these drop-off locations:

  • Georgetown Public Library, 402 W 8th Street
  • Georgetown Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Ave
  • Georgetown Recreation Center, 1003 N Austin Ave
  • Sun City–Cowan Creek Amenity Center, 1433 Cool Spring Way

Christmas Tree Curbside Collection

  • Place trees curbside on your first recycling day of the month.
  • Collected by TDS as part of yard trimmings.
  • Trees must be 7 ft or shorter (longer trees must be cut into sections).
  • Remove all tinsel, decorations, and lights or fees may apply.

Drop-Off

  • Free disposal at the Transfer Station, January 2–31
  • Location: 250 W.L. Walden Road (behind the Animal Shelter)
  • Trees must be free of tinsel, decorations, and lights or fees may apply
