Battery Replacement Assistance
The Georgetown Fire Department offers limited assistance with replacing batteries in smoke alarms.
To request this service, please complete a request using the City’s Report an Issue tool.
Please Note

The Fire Department does not troubleshoot or repair smoke alarm systems.

If your alarm is malfunctioning or needs replacement, please contact a licensed technician or qualified handyman.
- All smoke alarms must be replaced 10 years after its manufacturing date.
- We are unable to replace batteries for detectors on ceilings taller than 11 feet.
