Overview

Smoke alarms save lives. When properly installed and maintained, they play a vital role in reducing fire-related deaths and injuries.

Battery Replacement Assistance

The Georgetown Fire Department offers limited assistance with replacing batteries in smoke alarms.

To request this service, please complete a request using the City’s Report an Issue tool.

Please Note

• The Fire Department does not troubleshoot or repair smoke alarm systems.

• If your alarm is malfunctioning or needs replacement, please contact a licensed technician or qualified handyman.

• All smoke alarms must be replaced 10 years after its manufacturing date.
  

• We are unable to replace batteries for detectors on ceilings taller than 11 feet.
