How do I dispose of a fire extinguisher?
Overview
Fire extinguishers typically last between 10 to 12 years with proper care. However, they cannot be disposed of in regular trash because they contain high-pressure chemicals and are classified as hazardous materials.
Residents are encouraged to follow the manufacturer's instructions for discharging and recycling used or expired extinguishers.
