Hydrant Flushing

Overview

 Hydrant flushers automatically initiate flushing and help utilities comply with U.S. EPA Drinking Water Standards. Customers may occasionally observe what appears to be a leak from the hydrant; however, it is often part of a routine flushing process.

Reasons for Flushing

A fire hydrant functions essentially as a valve, and to ensure proper operation when needed, it is important to regularly inspect and test the hydrant.

Hydrants are flushed to remove mineral deposits that may accumulate inside water distribution pipes.
