Solid Waste Collection Noise
Per the terms of the City’s solid waste contract with Texas Disposal Systems, commercial dumpster collection is permitted between the hours of 12:00AM and 7:00PM. We’d like to share some insight into why these dumpsters are picked up during early morning hours.
Key Reasons for Early Pickup:
1. Traffic Minimization/Safety for Residents and Crews: During these hours, both vehicle and pedestrian traffic is minimal, making it easier for collection crews to navigate streets and parking lots, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring a safer environment.
2. Efficiency in Operations: With fewer vehicles on the road, trucks can complete their routes more quickly and efficiently. This helps reduce the City of Georgetown’s overall operational costs, lessens the strain on resources, maintains service standards, and ensures timely waste collection.
3. Environmental Considerations: Early collections reduce the time trash trucks spend idling in traffic, leading to lower fuel consumption and emissions.
4. Business Accessibility: Picking up dumpsters early prevents interference with the daytime operations of local businesses, ensuring drivers can operate smoothly without blocked driveways or enclosures potentially leading to service disruptions.
5. Odor Management: Collecting trash early, especially in warmer climates, helps reduce the buildup of odors that can occur throughout the day.
We understand that this activity may occasionally be heard in a residential area, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. By working together, we can maintain a clean and safe environment for all.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep Georgetown’s solid waste and recycling collection running efficiently and effectively!
