Fire Station No. 1 Renovation Project Update

Overview

The City of Georgetown is moving forward with the Fire Station No. 1 Renovation Project. The project will modernize the city's oldest fire station, improve facilities for firefighters, and help meet the community's public safety needs for years to come.

Project Update

During construction, Fire Station No. 1 personnel are operating from a temporary location in the portable building located in the parking lot at 317 Industrial Avenue, next to the fire station. Emergency response services continue without interruption throughout the renovation.

Fire Station No. 1 Renovation Project

Fire Station No. 1 is undergoing a major renovation to improve the facility and support emergency response operations in Georgetown. The project is part of the City's Capital Improvement Program and is funded through Certificates of Obligation.

The project has a total budget of $8,329,497.50. As of April 30, 2026, approximately $505,340.10 had been spent on design and construction activities.

Project Progress

The project completed the design development phase in November 2023, and 100% construction documents were completed in October 2024. Plans were submitted for Site Development Plan review later that month.

Several project milestones have been completed since then, including:

  • Site development plan reviews and revisions

  • Approval of the Water Pollution Abatement Plan (WPAP) by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)

  • A page-turn meeting with project partners

  • Receipt of 12 bid responses for construction

As of April 2026, the project is in the Public Bidding phase.

Upcoming Milestones

The current project schedule includes:

  • Construction contract award: Currently in contract negotiations

  • Post for bid: January 22, 2026

  • Project completion: February 2028
