Does the city offer rebates or discounts for filling a pool?

Pool Filling and Utility Billing

Overview

Customers occasionally ask whether there is a discounted utility rate or billing adjustment available when filling a swimming pool. The City of Georgetown currently bills all pool filling water usage at the standard utility rate, with no special adjustments for residential or commercial pools. Customers are not required to contact the Utility Call Center before filling a pool, as no special authorization, rate, or billing adjustment is available for pool filling.

Understanding Pool Filling Charges

As temperatures rise and pool season begins, many residents and businesses prepare to fill or refill swimming pools. During this process, customers may notice an increase in their utility bill and often ask whether special rates or billing adjustments are available for pool-related water usage.

The City of Georgetown does not offer discounted utility rates or billing adjustments for filling residential or commercial swimming pools. Water used for pool filling is billed at the standard utility rate and is treated the same as other water consumption recorded during the billing cycle.

If customers have questions or concerns regarding their bill after filling a pool, the Utility Call Center is available to assist. Staff can review account usage history, explain how water consumption impacted the bill, and help customers better understand the charges shown on their statement.

To help manage higher-than-normal usage during a billing cycle, customers may also consider filling pools gradually when possible.

The City of Georgetown remains committed to helping customers understand their utility services and encourages residents to reach out with any utility billing questions.
