Recycling and Cleanup Events

The City hosts recycling and collection events throughout the year, including household hazardous waste collection.

These events help residents safely dispose of items that cannot be placed in regular trash or recycling carts.

Accessible Transportation with rideGTX

rideGTX is a City of Georgetown transportation assistance program.

The program partners with Uber and zTrip to provide City-funded transportation options for eligible riders.

rideGTX provides affordable, accessible transportation options throughout the year.

Eligible riders can use rideGTX for transportation to work, appointments, shopping destinations, and other important locations.

Safety Information

Outdoor Warning Sirens

The City of Georgetown’s outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outside during emergencies.

The City’s 23 sirens are tested on the first Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. During testing, residents will hear two 60-second warning tones.

Sirens may also be activated during actual emergencies, including severe weather or hazardous chemical incidents.

If a siren sounds during an emergency, move indoors and seek shelter immediately.

Utility Outage Notifications

Residents can receive utility outage notifications by text message:

  • Text ELECTRIC to 512-930-8400 for electric outage notifications.
  • Text WATER to 512-930-3640 for water outage information.

These notifications help residents stay informed during service interruptions.
